From the lateral side to the medial forefront, the shoes pair together hairy suede black backgrounds that are adjacent to pink Swooshes/overlays. But hidden on the medial walls, you’ll find deviating classical leather fabrics that carry Celtics-styled white and green paneling. Riding down below, the sole piece comes packaged with that of blacked out midsoles and all pink tread. The rendition is a member of Nike SB‘s “Invert Pack”, and will be dropping alongside a “Baltic Blue” Blazer Mid colorway, and a Blazer Low.
Nike, both in their collaborations and general releases, have drawn inspiration from Japan in a number of ways this past year alone. And after some sashiko darning and indigo dyes, the brand is readying up an SB Dunk High that pays overt homage to one of the country’s titans of animation: Doraemon. Revealed by Kevin Perez nearly two months ago, its likely the colorway is nearing an upcoming Fall release as official images have appeared just today.
Revealed by stylist Akio Hasegawa, this High silhouette features a standard material construction, but the silhouette has undergone a drastic transformation of its own as it features a tongue from the Air Jordan 6 with “Nike SB” embroidered on the lace shroud and even above the “windows” on the tongue. The Swoosh also features a key detail from another one of TET’s favorites as the signature netting is patterned onto the logo. A heel-tab is also added with bold FPAR branding, while a co-branded logo appears on the lace-lock and a custom shoe-box built with transparent materials.
Despite being the original trim designed by Peter Moore to hit the hardwood, the Nike Dunk High has been unquestionably overshadowed by its shorter counterpart. Yet, the last few months have seen the Swoosh pour energy into the silhouette, outfitting it with handfuls of heritage-driven and experiment-oriented arrangements.
Hits of red throughout the laces and profile swooshes nod to the fresh tomatoes found in the Greek-favorite, but they’re unquestionably overshadowed by the brown elephant print that appears on the ankle flaps and bottom heel overlay meant to stand-in for the dish’s meat. Lastly, Color Skates adds its name onto the tongue label, and its colorful “C” logo onto the lateral heel.
